Yep, glass half full situation. No cancer came back where it was attacked initially.

After prostate surgery, my first and second bone scans (6 months apart) showed a small "non-specific" finding on the Right side of my skull....I perform bone scans every day (nuclear med tech) so I knew it shouldn't be there...no other findings on the bone scan...the radiologist took me to the MRI scanner and had the MRI techs scan that area of the skull....he still didn't know what it was....then we walked over to the CT scanner and scanned the same area...still scratching his head. He said he would confer with the other radiologists (whom I've worked with for 30 years) to get an answer....opinions were different...none thought it was cancer but suggested I keep getting regular scans to make sure it doesn't change. So...I went to my oncologist who asked had i ever had a blow or injury to my head....yes...when I was in my 20's and it knocked me out. Don't remember exactly what area of my skull the blow was to (Honda 3 wheeler accident). He said that may be what is lighting up on the scan...some injuries (although years old) keep showing up on bone scans...and I've witnessed that with a lot of my patients..."broke my leg 20 years ago"...."broke my arm 30 years ago", etc. and it still shows up on the bone scan...so we just keep an eye on it to make sure subsequent scans show no changes. I pray you have a positive outcome...

It's quite likely I may have bumped my skull of the left side at some point when I was younger but just don't remember. Maybe the CAT scan of my head will shed some light. Could be nothing. :fingerscrossed:

I get ocular migraines, which sounds like the same thing. No pain for me, just impossible to focus. Good luck.

CAT scan of my head Monday morning. Hopefully negative. If negative then some more tests to determine what's up. It's unusual for the cancer to suddenly appear in your head. It usually hits up lymph nodes and/or spreads thru the bones. His dad had prostate cancer that spread to his head but spread thru other areas first. I'm thinking my urologist became a urologist because of his dad's cancer. Guessing on that but come to think of it....makes sense.

    an update.
I went in on Oct.19th and had the Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP). The surgery went well per doc, he said he removed 42 grams of the prostrate, normal is 20 grams for this operation. My prostrate was way over enlarged and blocking the urine flow such that I was retaining at least 1.5 liters of pee. My bladder was over stretched over the years due to the prostrate.

Spent a night in the hospital, they pulled the catheter out, and I failed the pee test. Put another catheter in. Sent me home the next day on Tuesday. The flow and pee bag is working Tuesday and Wednesday. Tried the smaller pee bag that attaches to the leg. Did an errand and walking ok. Noticed in the afternoon the flow decreased and stopped. Called clinic at hospital and they said I need to go to emergency as they are closing. Went to emergency, they removed the catheter and installed another one with a flush option, as I wanted to not have to do the remove and insert option very much. Called urologist the next day as I was to have the catheter removed on Thursday before the ER visit. They said to keep the catheter in till the next Wednesday. That was a loong week.

Next Wednesday, I go in and the nurse removes the catheter, but she puts in a half liter of solution first. I do the pee test for elimination function. Everything operates ok. The UT confirms the pee function is working. I go home. I do some walking to get some exercise but going slow. I have an occasional it seems like it’s plugged but then dead tissue comes blasting out and am ok. Some blood in pee on and off for 10 days. Blood in urine is common for a few weeks per doc. No lifting anything heavy, 10 to 15 lb limit. After 4 weeks I start my running routine again of 3 to 4 times a week, 2 to 3.5 miles. 12 minute miles, slow. No blood in urine, all is good.

I visit the Doc (phone visit) and he says I’m ok. The pathology test on the tissue sample removed during the operation showed no cancer.

Anyways, after wearing Depends for a week, the dribbles have stopped. My pee function is working. I try to Pee every 2 hours and at least once a night to keep the bladder smaller, maybe it will get back to normal. It’s really a relief as my bladder was causing a bulge in my abdomen, my pants fit better now. lol. I should have had the operation done earlier, 20-20 hindsight.

Didn't get much sleep last night. Had my TeleHealth meeting today with my Doc. Head Cat scan>>>>>>>>>

:yes:No bone cancer in my head. Next>>> another PSA/Testosterone bloodwork at the end of January. If PSA reaches 1.0 I go back on Zytiga and Prednisone. Doc will try again to get an Axumin Pet Scan approved to pinpoint where the cancer is. My insurance has paid close to $19K for three different scans over the last 5 weeks......:eek2:

I just had my first colonoscopy @ 58, in part due to this thread. Thankfully only one small polyp.

But just to make you feel a little better, I get to go the 28th so they can stick a ballon up my pee hole because it has so much scar tissue I can barely pee. (passing kidney stones) They wanted to do as an emergency treatment yesterday, yeh, no.

We have some good insurance options at work. I opted for the BCBS 100/80 plan. The priciest at $65 a week but totally hassle free. I did celebrate a bit last night.....

I forwarded this link to my urologist. He is aware of this treatment and is hoping he can use this on me. My PSA needs to hit 1.0 before I can possibly get the Axumin Pet scan approved. The Pet Scan is hi resolution and can detect small cancer cells. He says I'm a prime candidate for this treatment. I'm so into this possibility!

I don't want to sidetrack your thread but yes, its gonna suck.
I've never actually passed a stone, my back starts hurting and its the stones that are attached to the walls of my kidney moving down, my body seems to turn them to sand and I expel them as a sand. It has scarred my urethra to the point its almost entirely closed. I had top prove to them I could actually pee before they'd let me leave.
They'll expand it with a ballon and then leave a catheter in place for 2-3 weeks.
I'll be so very happy to pee like a normal person, I hope.

Not side tracking this thread at all Todd. Catheters suck. I had one for 9 days. The removal was quite unpleasant. The female PAC warned me first before she removed it. She said to "grab and hold , they don't come out too easy sometimes " great.....she was right but pretty hot...I'm not blind after all..ha!
I've lost any sense of embarrassment over the last 4 years dealing with this crap situation...

Heard that! After my Radical Prostectomy the nurses came in to give me a sponge bath and it was the first day on the job for one of them. after 30 seconds of them trying to keep my privates covered, which was about impossible, I took the towels off and said do what you need to do....I don't careo_O
Prayers for ya Matt....keep getting better!!

Got my bill for my TURP procedure, one night at the hospital and ER visit a couple days later. The grand total so far is 52K before medicare and my supplemental insurance kicked in. My portion is about 580 dollars.

The surgery was a success with respect to being able to pee. It’s been 2 months now and can pick up more than the 15 lb limit, but have not done or had to do any strenuous lifting. I lost an inch or so on my waist as I don’t carry around the urine anymore.

I complain on the cost of my insurance but it helped in this situation a lot.
