Thugs doesn t seem quite the right description imo. But the idea of, or the reason for, sports and competition is/can be, more complex. This is part of a comment I found while researching something else, "one way of settling ingroup-outgroup conflicts is violence, and another, less violent way of exercising the important social musculature involved in ingroup-outgroup formations and behaviour is doing competitive, group-identifying things like following a sports team. That also sometimes leads to violence (the last soccer match between basel and zürich was a good example. but of course they started it…). This violence is much less widespread, and much easier to control than say the violence involved in wars." The fact that "your team", is actually acting as a champion to your cause, of course your cause is winning, or rather, your champion is winning for you, (delusion by the way), then the rational doesn t seem that far fetched. All you have to do is ask yourself why you root for any specific team or player in the first place, and see where that leads you.

    "

Pretty sure the sentiment was that this is is the "official NFL thread". If you need to keep coming in to say, basically " i'm not watching because it's hurting my feelings that players can express their opinions" you should shut the f up and post elsewhere. What part is hard for you to understand?

I "listened" to several games. I love football. Do I have to "watch" the games to meet your criteria? I never mentioned that my feelings were ever hurt by the way. I only mentioned that I don't want "politics" mixed with NFL and other pro sports. You "might" have a lack of reading comprehension. Personal attacks don't go over too well here but keep bringing it on. Mr 90 posts.....yawning now.....comprende? You come across as the one that's butt hurt....

My sincere apologies. I was responding to the quoted post before yours and wrongly assumed you were repeatedly jumping in to say you were personally boycotting the NFL - I completely missed the watching v listening thing. Totally my mistake. I'll back out of this now. Go Broncos, and enjoy your Tundras. (I think Lock may be better than people are giving him credit for. And you may still be an imbecile, but we'd need to share beer, and possibly bourbon for me to know for sure. Next time you are in La Plata County, lemme know and we can determine ;))
