Hey all. Avid upland/waterfowl bird hunter here. Wondering how many others are out there.

I see 35-40 days every fall hunting both upland game and waterfowl. I am not a big rifle kind of guy (although I own a few for deer hunting). My taste is for shotguns.

    Hope to hear from you.

Awesome to hear from you all.

I didn't realize there is Sika deer in Canada.

We hunt sharp-tailed grouse out on the prairies. I imagine you guys are hunting ruff?

I hunt upland game with an English Pointer. Waterfowl is done mostly in the field, rarely water. We have a 16' enclosed trailer and run about 12 dozen full bodies. My two boys are with on most of our hunts.

    What are people shooting?

Browning shotguns seem to fit me the best so that is what is in our arsenal. Citori Feather Lightening for upland, Maxxus for waterfowl. My boys shoot Silvers.

Waterfowl, deer, and pheasant hunter here. Don’t do as much upland anymore though just because I no longer have a dog. Grew up with Spring Spaniels, and will get another one some day when I finally get a house! This year I aim to get out duck hunting more since I moved back out of Mpls. Pretty stoked for that. Crazy about the whitetails too! Mostly slug hunt now, haven’t gone farther north into rifle zone for a few years. My last few shotguns have been Winchester’s, they have been great guns for me. That reminds me- I should probably get out and get some target practice in haha

I try to spend as much time as possible up in South Dakota hunting pheasant. Been going for 20+ years, even moved up there for about 4. Hunt around the Mitchell, SD area. Most years have been really good, but the weather has not done much to support the hatch the last couple of years. I typically hunt behind a lab.

Shotguns--Browning's, Beretta's and Benelli's. I have a Citori and an A5 in 16 which still does a number on the birds. Only wish I had more time to hunt.

Good looking Chessie! I used to raise and train them when we hunted the open bays back in the late 70's and 80's down here in Texas. Toughest waterfowl dog ever.

Great looking Chessie. The history on that dog is truly incredible. 80 retrieves a day in cold water was documented back in the day.

I ran labs for almost 25 years. Incredible all around dogs but they have just become so over-bred there are so many issues with them now. I am seeing the same trend in German shorthairs. All shapes and sizes, no standard. Can still be great dogs though.

I had a springer when I had a lab and she was an awesome dog. Then moved to a Brittany which was super intense and that dog could find birds but they don't have an "off" button ever. The cattle trails in my back yard from him pacing was enough to drive me mad. He was not a great family dog. He had 1 purpose, hunt.

This is my first English Pointer. She is phenomenal on birds (grouse, partridge, pheasant)...but she gets cold on me. I have to keep a pretty close eye on her when we get into late season. Something I never worried about with labs and the springer. She has been the best house dog we have ever had.

Great to hear from you all!!

I love trap shooting and my son was a state trap shooting champ in his younger years. I'm more into hunting with a rifle though.

Big time! Hunt with my black Lab "Lucky" and a 16ga Rizzini, 1 of 2 shotguns I didn't sell when I was selling everything to stay afloat years back. Used to hit the grouse woods in Maine for a week every year but the kids got older and...so I just hunt a local club for stocker pheasants. More fun for Lucky than me but something to look forward to every year!

I used to be a big Ruffed Grouse hunter here in PA, until West Nile killed most of them off. Now I hunt stocked pheasant and do a lot of Sporting Clay shooting. I shoot a browning Belgium 20 gauge for birds, everything else is a Benelli. As a southpaw, the left hand side eject is a game changer!

I’ve done a bit of everything over the years. Yes, one of the most enjoyable is later Oct in the upper Midwest for grouse, woodcock too. My main areas are the U.P. if MI, used to do a fair amount in Price Co, WI.

I do some deer hunting in the Fall, then there is the prairie dogging out West in June. I used to do more coyote hunting, not so much now.

Since my son likes the 16 ga, I have a minty ‘Sweet-16’ from the early 50’s. We have 3 other shotguns in 16. I used to use my 20 Citori, in reserve for time being.

Yep. I hunt chukar, quail, and dove in CA and NV with my Wirehaired Pointing Griffon.

Use a Benelli M2 20ga for it all.

I've taken pheasant, sharptails, huns & quail with my Lab. I've recently moved where the only wild upland birds are ruffed grouse and woodcock. I've hunted them a few times, but no luck so far.

I have a few guns I like for upland. A CZ USA Bobwhite Side-by-side in 20ga, a SKB 500 over-under in 12ga and a Benelli SuperNova in 12ga for bad weather.

I tried waterfowl about a half dozen times, but it was too much work followed by too much sitting around for me. Same thing for big game.

    Here ya go:

I love it but don’t do it nearly enough. The one and three year old have better use with my time. That being said, the GSP hunts all day everyday. If it has wings it’s a target.

I have a 3 and a half year old Brit that is one of the best bird dogs I’ve had.

I’m a benelli shooter, and hunt pheasant, Duck, Turkey, Dove, pretty much anything that flys.

I hunt upland, mostly pheasant and quail with the occasional Hungarian Partridge, Grouse or Chukar hunt. I hunt with my trusty Browning Citori 12ga. I am hoping to pick up a matching 20ga one of these days if I can find another with the strait grip. I've got a Remington 870 as well that I used to hunt birds with but now only comes out for Turkey season.

    Hunting.jpg

Having bird dogs makes it a whole lot more fun as well. I've got a Lab and a Vizsla

This is a picture of me and my lab on a pheasant hunt last fall. We hunt pheasants and quail. Suzi is a pointing lab. We hunt at least 3 or more days a week during the season. I like side by side shotguns. Check out her video on YouTube. ( Suzi loves quail )IMG_20191122_090627581.jpg

I am an avoid hunter. Mainly deer. But getting into pheasants again now that I have a dog(s). My 3 year old lab is a great retriever. She's even pointed a few times. I don't know how to train a dog other than basic commands and directional commands. But Loki is smart as a whip and a natural hunter. I just acquired her nephew, Thor. He is 7 months old and we will see how he does as well soon enough. I have two Ithaca 12g shot gun model 37 featherlites. One is mod choke, and the other is full choke. I use these the most. I also have a browning automatic 5 12g and a 410.
