I bought some LEDS and had planned to wire them to the factory harness on the rear drivers side look. Then I found out that in the 2018 that doesn’t work. So I tapped into the places outlined in the factory install directions. One has constant 12volt and one changes based on the overhead lights. So my question is, does the factory LED harness have a relay or something in it?

I tried that but this is a 208 and apparently that doesn’t work in 208 and later.

I was trying this and gave up in frustration, but it turns out the multimeter I was using had a part time bad lead. I started to wonder and realized it was bad when the continuity test read zilch. I’ll try again.

Thanks for everything guys. I had the 2018 install guide that goes to the front but it didn’t seem like mine was turning off with the doors. I’m going to go take a look now.

I got the 12volts from the pink wire under the scuff plate! Part of the problem is that one of the fancy expensive taps I was trying was designed for a larger gauge. When I used the clamp type that come with trailer wiring kits it worked. Thanks again all. I’ll post a pic when I’m completely done!

Hey that pink wire is triggered on with the cargo light , they didn’t switch it with a ground and a relay ?? So you just tapped into the power and just found a clean spot for your ground under the outside of the truck ? Is there a good weather proof spot to get your power wire in side ?

If you have the bed rail system on your truck, I used one of those screws and everything works perfect.

To everyone who posted on this thread thank you. Finally got a chance to finish.

I did the puddle lights too, might change these to strips at some point.

I do but I’m getting a spray in bed liner on Saturday , I’m guessing it won’t ground through that figured I would just find a spot to ground my light under the bed or cab ! Still waiting for the parts to make my kit !

I’m trying to wire bed lights to the driver side wire loom under the scuff plate and tap into the cargo light wiring and I am having a hell of a time. Everything I have read says to run the wire from under the truck up through a rubber grommet that pops out at the wiring under the scuff plate. All the rubber grommets I am seeing from under the truck don’t come out where they should. Looks like they come out under the metal plate that the wire loom is connected to so I can’t access them. I have seen the OEM bed light instruction PDF that says to run them through the passenger side into the footwell then over to the driver side but everyone says they just popped them through the grommets on the driver side. I am going crazy! Anyone got any tips or pointers???

So I ended up running them to the passenger side due to also getting a pop n lock. I got everything into the passenger scuff plate and got the pop n lock hooked up and working but can’t seem to find the wire for the cargo lights. Is there a cargo light wire on the passenger side as well? Or is it only on the driver side??

If you tap the puddle lights into the footwell light circuit they will fade in and out rather then abruptly turning off. Also illuminate when the vehicle is shut off.
