Corroded Electrical Unit - Unknown

2008 Tundra SR5 V8.

Please help me identify this part. It's quite corroded. It's located on the inside of the frame near the rear driver side wheel, above the axle. There are two electrical connectors that go unto a wrapped bundle, which also contains the wheel speed sensor wires. But the wheel speed sensor wires do not appear to be connected to this particular unit.

I will order and replace this unit as soon as I can find out what it is.

Putting my rear swaybar on today and remembered your question. He is a pic of mine. 2008 limited nonflexfuel, 5.7.

 

It looks like there is an additional layer of protective material on the OP one although it is very corroded/rusty as well.

 

That looks like it came from the Titanic. Jokes aside it does look like the fuel pump controller.

Oh wow surprise that it still is working and seeing that it is a Fuel Pump control time to replace it for sure!

 

If it still runs why mess with it. It's probably a good idea to get a spare when it finally gives up.

 

Almost agree with that but things like that like to go bad at the most undesirable times and it is something You know is going to go so it depends on how much you like to Gamble I guess.

Your posts are very helpful. Including the one that mentioned the part looks like it was on the Titanic. After purchasing this truck, used, I noticed that there was a good deal of black undercoating sprayed on over corrosion. It appears that someone wanted to hide something. Maybe this truck sat in high floodwater near the ocean for a period of time in the past. Nevertheless, it's too late to do anything about it besides replacing parts one at a time. The next project will be to replace the emergency brakes, cables, and swivel arm.

I see, according to some posts, that this part has several name variations: Fuel Pump Control, Computer Assembly Fuel, and FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE. And I'm seeing that some of these units are discontinued. I'll begin my search this morning. Maybe by this afternoon, I will have found a replacement.

Mine is a 5.7 V8 if you have a 4.7 it may be a different number.

You might be able to find someone parting out a truck. I see some from time to time on Craigslist and FB Marketplace. If you needed a lot of knick knack stuff I would think the more you buy the better the deal. Of course a junkyard might do the same.

 

OP it may be worth checking with your local parts guy; there could be some parts that are compatible across multiple years or makes Lexus Toyota etc... especially if you need to find of a donor vehicle it may help net you something easier to find.

@Roman the parts guru to see if he could chime in here.

 

Found a used part that fits this truck. It was 1/4 the price of a new one. Since the truck isn't new, the savings is welcome.
