Installing my cabin leds, didn't bother to disconnect the fuse for the lights, and boom, I go dark after switching a few bulbs.

I'm looking at the fuse box and I have no idea which fuse is for the interior lights on a 2016. There is no more "dome" fuse. I read somewhere it was the pwr outlet fuse, but I pulled that and it was fine. I even went through and pulled every other fuse that could possibly have the lights associated with them and they were all fine. I'm at a loss and super annoyed.

Is there something else I could have messed up?

Okay, day 2 of on and off trying to fix my interior bulbs. I replaced all of them with led's with no problem until I went to put in the vanity festoons. Lights out. I have done the work in my manuals and csuvipers replies, and others on this site. Have looked in the cabin fuse box at all power 15 amp fuses and none are blown. I guess the next step is under the hood? Thanks for any advice

Ok, while I've got my heels dug in. All of these F'n manuals for our beautiful babies and no detailed diagram of fuse box? Most of us don't need to go to the stealership for a easy fix

Steve is right, it's a 7.5 amp fuse in the fuse box under the hood.

Holy crap Steve. I thought I kept my engine bay fairly clean. I could eat a sandwich off your fuse box or battery. Nice job on that for a 2015...

I blew my fuse when I replaced mine too. Again it blew again today. I ended up needing to take the reflective shields out of the light fixtures and filing the opening for the bulbs out to make them bigger. The LED bulbs were longer and a little wider than the stock bulbs. It fixed my issue.

Funny thing I have a 2018 Toyota Tundra TRD read all the posts regarding replacing the 7.5 amp fuse I swapped them out and interior lights still don’t come on. Very frustrating, I guess I’ll have to go to the dealership and ask at the parts dept about what to do. If any one knows anything it would greatly be appreciated.

Toyota has the proprietary OEM parts recommendations and no aftermarket LED lights or bulbs are allowed to install on Toyota cars/trucks. Even if you replace the fuse and install a higher power of resistance fuse, you are still going to have a major problem down the road. In most cases, you will experience a starting problems out of nowhere. What end up happening is the immobilizer stops communicating with the UCM unit, which prevents it from starting the engine. The real problem with this is that it doesn’t happen consistently, but rather intermittently. You might see this once a year or once in a few months. The computer is assuming that the LED lights are drawing excessive amount of power, while in reality LED bulbs/lights draw much lesser power than regular factory lights. This confusion in the system causes the miscommunication between the immobilizer and the main computer, which prevents it from starting the engine.

even if you trick it by resistors, although the lights will work but will create a terminal problem within the system. Toyota will void the warranty anything caused by the aftermarket parts and accessories. If you are installing the lights that can be controlled independently by connecting them directly to the battery and running the switch to the dashboard, you are better off doing that, than piggybacking the other components. You can run things to the battery, with relay, and its own fuse and switch. But avoid installing LED bulbs in the overhead map reading lights or licenses plate lights, or any LED light strips tapping into the parking lights or other components. Save yourself frustration and money.

Most times (not always) when people talk scare tactics, they have ulterior motives. To me, it sounds like something a Toyota employee would spread the word on, so you pay them for their parts and service.

No ulterior motive with this comment and I know you agree ...DISCONNECT THE BATTERY WHEN REPLACING LIGHTS. It takes 30 seconds

So has everyone switched back to the stock bulbs or do the LEDs work? I have my interior LED kit sitting on my work bench but now I’m scared to put them in after reading this!

Nope, haven't switched back. LED on interior and 3rd brake light.

Disconnect the battery when installing. It's so easy to do and you likely won't run into the same problem everyone is having with blow fuses and other issues.

I disconnected for each bulb. Dry fit the negative back on after each was installed to ensure connection and polarity. Turns out each bulb was installed correctly or the polarity didn't matter. But I wasn't going to take chance with electrical issues or fuses and have the battery blow something to save me 30 seconds on each bulb by having to disconnect it.

The LED on the interior is amazing.

That was the easiest upgrade! They are amazing. I can’t even believe how much brighter they are than factory!

Any idea how I should fix my issue? I bought the same HR kit and when replacing them, they won’t work anymore. Thinking I blew a fuse like you guys mentioned. I didn’t disconnect the negative terminal, really wish I would’ve read this thread before. How should I fix my issue?

I blew the fuse accidental doing the dome lights. Slipped and touched both contacts at once.

Is there any other fuse (besides "Dome" under the hood) and the Dome relay I could check to solve the issue with interior lights? I have a 2014 Tundra and changed out all dome and map lights to LED and when proceeding the same change of the footwell light on the driver's side, all door switches stopped working. Basically, all the dome lights come on if I manually switch the dome light to "on", but if I switch it back to "door", they don't come on when I open a door. I wouldn't think it would have anything to do with the individual door switches themselves since the dome lights don't come on regardless of what door I open. I checked all fuses under the hood and in cabin that I could find. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks-

I blew mine yesterday installing LEDs from footwell light. There is a small fuse box along interior driver side wall, there is a 10a dome fuse I blew.

Toyota is the only one I know of that cant handle a bulb change without disconnecting the battery

It in itself is a fucking fuse

My dome fuse is under the hood (I have a 2014). I already checked that fuse to see if it was the culprit, but it's still good. Actually tested every fuse in both boxes (under hood and in diver's side footwell fuse box). Thanks for the suggestion though.

I'm still looking for suggestions if anyone has any. I tested all fuses in both fuse boxes (under hood and in the cabin) with a tester and all are good. The dome and map lights work when I turn the dome switch to "on" but won't work when it's set to "door". Doesn't matter which door is open, none of them trigger the dome lights to come on. I'm baffled. The footwell light is not working either even when I turn the dome light to "on", but I don't remember if that typically came on or not when you open the door?? When I put my tester in the socket of where the footwell bulb goes, my tester lights up. It will even light the bulb up if I put it in there while the bulb is still in the socket. Not sure if that provides any more clues to the mystery. Could the switch for the dome light be bad when in the "door" position, but still work when in the "on" position??? I don't know enough about how those work. Thanks for suggestions.
