The 4.6 uses the same block (pretty sure) and has been known to have this issue as well. The 4.6 is just more rare, so we don't hear about it as often.

I'll take a look at it today I just bought it three weeks ago it only had 28,000 miles on it I didn't see any oil leakage yet but I didn't look super hard is the area of leakage from the driver's seat on the left or right side front or rear of engine I appreciate your your answering my first question is well thank you

There are some pictures earlier in this thread, but the easiest way to see it is to look in through the wheel well. These almost always leak at the rear of the engine (closest to the cab), and I don't think one side is more or less common than the other.

I don't know if anyone said but flat rate is 16 hours on this job. Im about to do mine because I don't let stuff leak regardless if it's not that bad. Im a Caterpillar tech so I'll handle it myself. Should it have been fixed? Yeah Toyota should have figured it out and changed the sealant at the factory but that's life. I still have less issues than my Chevy or Ford owning friends so I can I'll suck it up. My friends new gmc has been in the dealer 11 times in 3 months. I guess im trying to say, suck it up. Also anyone in Colorado want help doing theirs pm me.

Maybe. Maybe not. I sure felt like complaining when my brand new 2018 started leaking and needed the engine opened up, then ended up being bought back after the engine got screwed up after the repair. But I guess I wasn't born with a life-altering disability, so I shouldn't really be complaining about anything.

was the deal made right? Did you end up ok with the deal? Honestly asking. I’m the guy with a 2020 that has had two drips and quit. My 2011 had a full blown leak that went full Cherokee with smoke signals.

Sure, I ended up OK with the deal given the circumstances, but I'd have much rather not had to deal with any of it. Not sure what you're getting at—I'm just pointing out that people like to come on here and tell other people how they should or shouldn't feel about this issue.

I have. But newer experiences with dealers and newer years are always relevant. Seems like your just headstrong on being a prick....but that prolly comes with being an Oregonian

Honestly not sure how you got that out of my previous posts. You asked me to elaborate and I said I already did earlier in this thread. I'd say most on here wouldn't consider me a prick—the vote is still out on you, though. LOL at taking a jab at my home state as well, pretty pathetic.

Okay now I see your point. If I had a new truck I'd be livid too. Mine started leaking at 130k and that's a pretty good life for rtv anyway. Didn't mean to sound pretentious before

Well went to pick it up Friday and they said they were having issues, they test drove it and it was in Limp mode. Picked it up yesterday and so far seems to run ok. They think something got inside and was causing it to not fire right. They only did the left side, and in looking at that side I cant see any gasket material like I can see on the drivers side. It also looks like there is some wet oil on the front area where the cam comes together.

I think taking it to another dealer to have the cams inspected might be in order.

Noticed a small leak on my 2018 which has 16K miles. Dealer said that it was "minor seepage but not leaking for Toyota to warranty."

What say you fellow Tundra owners? Is it truly not bad enough?

Yup that’s exactly what the dealer told me too! For my 2017 pro.
I don’t understand, if there’s oil coming out of the engine fix the damn thing! No mater if it’s
    “Just” a seepage.

I spoke with one local dealer, and the service writer said he’d never heard of the issue, in the 4 yrs he’d been there. Also that there were no bulletins, or anything official from Toyota on the issue. He did mention there was an attempt at a class action lawsuit, he must’ve searched it on the webs....

I’ll try the next dealer, and go from there.

I just bought a 2018 Limited, 11,000 miles. I thought I smelled oil burning and looked in the fender well and saw what looked like a small drip of really clean oil. Upon further investigation, I saw clean oil on top of the motor, hoping this is from a sloppy oil change. I degreased the engine today, I hope I don't have a leaky engine this early in the game. I'll keep y'all posted.

If it's on top of the engine it was probably a sloppy oil change.

    None yet.
I have a 2018 tundra 5.7 v8 crewmax sr5 upgrade. And I’ve been checking mine every week. I’m so worried I’ll have this problem. I have exactly 30,000 on the dot. Still bone dry on both sides. I can see the grey sealant. And idk if I’ll have this problem or not. Is it a hit and miss kinda thing or is every tundra eventually gonna have this issue. Please write ur comments below need advice. It’s my first tundra. I’m not new to Toyota’s. Just the tundra. Thanks.
