The Cybertruck is polarizing. I'm still not sure if I like it, but they got many things right. Many of the truck owners I know have been wanting these features for years:
    Built in ramps - check
    Retractable cover - check
    Durable exterior panels - check
Low maintenance paint / exterior - check
    High ground clearance - check
Factory suspension air bags - check
    Hauls A - check
    Decent factory tires - check
Minimalist interior for easy cleaning - check

I hope the competition is paying attention. Maybe these features will finally make it into more factory rigs.

It’s just 1.0 so that is why it is crap...they will figure it out over time.

    A bunch
They had to go crazy. If they went mainstream with the looks Ford or GM would just come out with something similar, keep all their current customers, which means less sales for Tesla. It will push the competition, and that's why I like it. I am most likely 15-20 years from ever buying an EV, but if it wasn't for Tesla then the EV's at that point would be crap.

Dead on! An EV isn't practical for me in the current setup, but I am interested in the advancements. I also like that there is a bunch of buzz (not the same thing as irrational ranting and fan-girling) because it should get all automakers thinking about how to improve their products.
With current things, I am hoping the Tundra I have will be the last vehicle I need. 12k miles a year or less means I should have plenty of time with this. Hoping I die before the Tundra does.

I've been watching EV development for a few years now with frustration. I feel for most automakers, EVs are a low priority and the pace of development seems to show it. If anything, Tesla succeeded in creating excitement, be it positive or negative. Clearly, EVs are of much higher priority for Tesla than other companies. But looking at the sheer number of preorders, it seems to me many people have decided that EV is a feasible option TODAY. I really hope this is the kick in the pants other companies need.

250,000 preorders in 5 days. Not bad at all.

Ordered a dual motor model. I am keeping my Tundra though.

There were two things I really wanted to do with my Tundra; supercharge it and line x the whole body. I scrapped those ideas. Too much wear and tear on the truck. With Tesla, I feel that both of these are done from the factory. Strong stainless steel body and 0 to 60 in 4.5 second with Dual motor. (I would not have minded 2.9 performance of tri motor, but I couldn't justify 20K increase in price)

    Never mind, found my answer.

For commuters and people that don't actually tow/work their trucks....the Tesla is for you. I could not own one for my needs, even with the 3 motor 14K rated cyber truck.

Since this video seems to be reposted often, let me comment on what he says. What he says is flatly wrong. If he is right, a lighter car cannot outpull a heavier car (he says, the only thing this shows is that Tesla is heavy). By his logic, a loaded F150 that weighs more than F350 will outpull F350. We all know that's simply not true. Have you seen small car outpulling heavier truck? I have.

What he is confused about is the difference between kinetic friction (friction when object is sliding or spinning) with static friction. Kinetic friction is proportional to the weight (and he is correct) but static friction is more complicated (it has an inequality sign). It's the static friction that pulls the truck and here the torque and more importantly, how fast that torque can be applied to the wheels does matter. It is not surprising that Ford challenged Tesla for a rematch and when Musk accepted the challenge, they backed off.

So essentially this is my truck vs a Tundra....empty. Pretty easy pull since my truck weighs 7800 lbs. Not a big feat for a HD truck.

Now let’s take similar trucks, but load down the Tundra.

The Tundra easily pulled the Duramax, and the driver of the DM isn’t very good at pull offs. Burning tires works good on drag radials. Not so much on street tires.

This is to the extreme, but pretty impressive.

Some pretty good friction force going on in these videos.

Then again, these are worthless competitions. We all know the tractor will pull 80k lbs a whole hell of a lot better than a dually duramax.

    LMAO good one.

One of my friends told me he pre-ordered a Tesla truck. I was completely at a lost for words. Tried to be positive and the only thing I could think of was "it has a lot of flat surfaces so if it ever gets in an accident it'll be easy to repair" :eek2:o_O

I showed my 8 year old a picture of the cyber truck. He said dad that’s cool and futuristic. While I do value his opinion he is now grounded until he’s 12.
