My wife and I are in North Carolina Looking for a place to live.
I noticed this truck/SUV look going on here that my son refers to as the Carolina Squat or Strut.
I have to say, its different and how in the heck can you see what's in front of you?
I also noticed that they have this awful exhaust sound going on as well!
I must admit growing up in the sixties, us motor heads would jack the front end of our cars up too but for weight transfer purposes. It was a look that we went for.
The truck in the top picture is what is going on here, the Chevy at the bottom is what we used to do.
I think what's going on is that I might be showing my age and associated grumpiness when I can't relate to current vehicle modifications.
I guess I need to remind myself that we did crazy things as well back then.
And to any Carolina members on this site who run with this look, no offense intended.

O and OP are you referring to a diesel lopeing when you are talking about the sound they make ? If so joke is on them because that's actually not good for the motor. But thats what I have heard I dont have proof.

Yeah, I'm sorry, but that suspension setup makes it look like the truck is constantly trying to take a dump.o_O Looks stupid as hell to me.

That is beyond the Cali lean. I don’t see it as much here anymore. In the past most people did it because they were going for the pre-runner look. Even though a pre-runner doesn’t sit like that, it just gives the impression that it does because of the high flared fenders. The Carolina squat is just useless! It’s beyond over the top. I wonder if the guys that do the pre-runner look think that it will jump and land better? LOL.

I used to think that they were in the process of lifting the truck and just haven’t gotten around to the back. Or maybe they ran out of money LOL

Are you looking to move to Raleigh area? Or is that where you live now? I’ve been in Raleigh and surrounding for 30 years, look at Apex, Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina, Angier, and Pittsboro/Chatham County.

I also like to put refer to the Cali lean as Bro lean. Usually it’s a bro driving it with his bro hoe in the passenger seat. Typically the look is also accompanied by a flat brim hat and rockstar energy drinks LMFAO

NC all my life. Can't say I've seen it much at all in my generation. Recent Gen... All of them like it.

I personally blame all on the transplanted Yankees coming to the state to avoid all those taxes they helped drive up in the north..... Having children and bringing their wierd sense of self expression with them.

Looks like you're in Cary area. Constrated Area of Relocated Yankees. I'm sure you see a lot of it around there.

When I say Yankee, I'm not referring to the civil war. I'm refering to the culture of entitlement that the northern people generally built in their area and then ran away from when the taxes got too high to support it.

No offense to Northerners. Justing weighing on NC truck bias.

Cali lean is the TRD pro stock setup. That right there is the I gotta take sh|t lean. Also why buy a truck if you're gonna slam it to the ground. That's my other pet peeve.

I'm a Yankee, lived in my containment area (Cary), and was allowed to be released. I can say, I've worked since I was 13 years old. Some kids these days don't have to work, and they're buried in their phones (and they're from all over). I give kudos to those parents that make their kids go out and work.

Now, I will blame NC becoming a purple state on most Yankees (me excluded), and there are folks moving here from Canada and California too, brining their views with them unfortunately.

And if by "excessive" you mean "more stupid looking", then I agree.
