20190804_154109.jpg Today was dual battery setup Genesis Offroad, SwsitchPro - should have taken the pic of the SDHQ mount next to the radiator mount for wiring. I did not buy the SDHQ center console shifter add, I modded mine myself. 20190804_154116.jpg 20190804_154126.jpg 20190804_154139.jpg 20190804_154145.jpg Installed the genesis interior battery monitor system, next to the steering wheel, knee area left side is perfect. Began with lighting on the rack. Installed the Matt Gecko hood LED kit, and will do the LEDs in the bed rails later today. On the dual battery is the Anderson plug for solar charging while out.

Thanks! The sign was my wife’s Uncle that ran a little auto repair business at one point. I kept it because it was kind of cool. One of these days I have to replace this door LOL but I’ll probably keep the sign even though it’s beat up.

Can’t beat this California weather today! Makes for some good pictures of the truck. Walking out of the store I felt like I had to snap another shot or two.

Three week old bug splatter is some tough stuff to get off the front of the Tundra. I should have gone to the car wash the next day after driving around after 10pm one night. Almost all of it is off. I have to get one of those special bug scrub sponges to really get those itty-bitty pieces off from the side mirrors.

We get HORRIBLE bugs here, and there’s a simple answer. HOT water. Wash it with hot water and the soap of your choice. They come right off.

Here we go! Projectors, HIDs and sequential turn signals on their way.
Basecoat red, gonna be color 3R3.
Used door handle TRD vinyl to spray tint over side markers, then pulled off the vinyl. For a friend’s truck.

Used dryer sheets in the past, but they tended to mess up the paint a little. Hot water however doesn’t do anything bad that I’ve found. :)

    Too many…scratch that…not done yet.
    Added some new mirrors....

Platinum (w/ heat, auto-dim, power fold, turn signal and puddle lamps). After months of searching, I lucked out and got a heck of a deal on ebay for a pair. I used the DIY guide from here for directions on building a wiring harness and pinning the plugs for all the features to work. I bought the new mirror control switch off ebay.

If you've seen any of my other mods on here you may know that I'm always up for a DIY challenge and I always look for a way to mod my mods...just for that extra custom touch. No difference here....
I got some LED strips from here that have both White DRLs and Amber [sequential running] blinking LEDs.

I wanted something functional, yet sleek and discreet. So, after disassembling and spending a few days working out the design, I ended up doing the following:

1.) Cutting a small slit in the mirror housing so that only the side of the strip was visible.
    IMG_0060.jpg
    IMG_0061.jpg

2.) After I cut the slit, I made a little shelf out of black polypropylene (glued it in, then plastic welded it to the housing).
    IMG_0062.jpg
3.) I don't have a picture of the next step, but I glued the LED strip in, and covered the entire light with black silicone and overlapped it to the housing and little shelf.
4.) I then mounted the LED control housing to the inside of the mirror housing.
5.) I then added some new LED puddle lights and reconnected everything. I ran the LED strip wiring down along the mirror control wiring bundle.
6.) There's a little open area where the mirror wires come through and into the plug. I ran the 3-wires from the LED strip into this area.
    - I then split the Black ground. I posi-tap'd one of the split Black grounds and the Amber wire (from LED strip) into the mirror signal (- and+, respectively).
    - I then took the red wire from the LED strip (for the White DRL) and the other Black ground, added about 6' more of red/black wire and added some heat shrink.
7.) I then ran the 6-wire Mirror control harness and the LED DRL harness through the door and into the cab. I repeated the process on the passenger and ran the wire through the dash and over to the driver side.
8.) I combined the respective harnesses from each side.
    - For the mirror controls, I followed the DIY guide reference above.
    - For the White DRL's: I wanted to control them independently, so I wired them up to an AOB switched.
    IMG_0133.jpg

If the DRL's are on, the amber turn signals override the white, then come back on after signal is off.
Below is a couple shots of the White DRL's on, and Amber turn signal (after a few tries, I caught a pic of the sequential run)
Of course, they're much brighter at night.

Thanks Rich! I just took some cues from the side mirrors of a lot of the cars nowadays. 'And a little engineering from there.

Easiest way is to wrap it with smoked vinyl, it's so easy, probably can get a piece for about $10 on Amazon. You could also spray tint the lens. I would keep the factory light, I have head nightmare stories of replacing the whole light, you need to pull the headliner down.

I got a bug sponge a couple years ago thrown in with an order of waxaddict. I had no clue what it was at the time, they do work well. I use Stoner Tarminator for stubborn bug guts and it's amazing, highly recommend it if you need a good cleaner. Also works great to clean tires.

I would say color match the grill surround at least.
