Hi I'm Cheryl, The reconfiguration Toyota did this model year to the "sound system" is EXTREMELY disappointing! Going to cost me thousands. Came here to talk to you all first....Here in Vegas I'm the second one that problems are coming to light, Wondering if any other 2019 owners have begun the process to have a surround sound enjoyable "hearing" experience in the daily driver......Digital amp is needed as the reconfiguration has overloaded the channels, I was foucused on test drive performance, visual, cost - didn't think to play with the stereo controls.....You have no control what so ever to control anything sound related in this truck. Please help..

There are literally rows of threads on here about the audio and just as many group buys to fix it. Use the search function and read up. There is plenty to learn.

    Welcome from SE PA!
I too have a 2019 1794 and, to put it mildly, am not thrilled with the sound quality. I will eventually replace the system. As others have suggested, there is good information in other threads throughout this forum. Good luck!

    Welcome from Georgia!

My '07 came with a 'premium sound system', it was under-powered and the speakers were terrible... I replaced the head unit, the door speakers and added a small powered sub under the passenger seat. It's not the most elaborate system available, but it sounds so much better with these new components.

    Less than $600.00

I think the factory JBL is adequate once you replace the sub. It's comparable to other lower end "premium" systems that can be optioned out in other vehicles in the $500-1000 range. Without the sub upgrade it's sorely lacking bass.

@james@tech12volts has a drop in solution for about $200 that uses the factory JBL amp. It took care of the problem for me, it's a little better now than the BMW hi-fi system in my other car.

    I have a 2019 Tundra Pro

You would think that the sound would reflect Pro but it does not.

My only solution was to replace the speakers and amp and add a sub

2500.00 later I have great sound.

On another note. Your entune HU may not have been flashed because when I bitches to Toyota the sound improved greatly but I already had a hard on for a JL audio system and had an install date.

You can search my threads for stereo fixed itself.

    Welcome!

OEM HU pushes out half the max watt RMS as most aftermarket ones, that’s a start right there, replacing it with one that has CarPlay/AndroidAuto. It’ll liven it up right away and put some of your phone tech on the screen.

I'm with you on the sound. I have probably spent close to 4k on my sound. I have replaced every component of the stereo in my 1794. New Kenwood headunit, jl c5 3 way components in the front doors and infinity components in the rear doors. A jl Audio stealth box behind the rear seat that holds 2 jl 10s and a 5 channel and a 2 channel jl amps to power everything. Let alone all the other misc items to complete the build such as stearijg wheel control modules, wiring, etc. Good luck with your build and make it yours.

I'd agree. I noticed that when the Bluetooth volume was increased to maximum it sounded much better. It meets what you'd find in a F150 or Chevy, and that's about it.

Let's be honest. Anybody who has been around ANY Toyota knows this. They NEVER excelled in this area.

    Welcome from AZ!

I was much happier with my audio situation after swapping the head unit (also picked up wireless CarPlay and Android Auto) and adding a budget JL sub and amp. I'll still replace the door and dash speakers eventually, but it was surprising how much better the quality was just with the HU swap.

I had to make sure there were no premium JBL Gremlins anywhere in the truck!

This was all to sound deaden the entire firewall,
transmission tunnel, and floor. It also makes it much easier to run all new wiring for the system.
