Need Help Kenwood Nav , Maestro RR , Install Help

I need a bunch of questions answered and I have read so much that now my brain is fried! I have a 2016 DC Non JBL w oem amp under seat. I purchased a Kenwood DNX694S and the Maestro RR , Harness ,dash kit, and Sirius XM Tuner. So here’s what I need to know:

What do I need to keep the USB ports and how is that wired in to the HU?

Where do I mount the GPS antenna ? Some ppl say w metal in the center speaker cavity but I think I have a speaker in there. Also do I already have a gps antenna? Truck doesn’t have a Nav, just Entune Plus???(I have traffic and weather apps)

What do I need to do to bypass the parking brake crap? Any extra parts or just not hook up??

Do I need to buy anything extra to hookup the OEM Backup Camera? Since it’s 6volts?

Do I need to buy extra long USB cables to run from the back of the HU? Oh, so the Kenwood is a black usb and a grey usb coming out of the back? What is the difference?

Last of all is there anything else I’m missing or need to know before I do this? Am I going to lose my MPG or Miles till Empty, etc on the center lcd screen in the dash cluster?

I want to be able to charge my phone via USB and use Apple Car Play and I don’t really care about the 3.5 input unless there’s a reason to keep it???

Oh, where do I mount all these extra boxes at?? Like the Sat Tuner and Maestro? Will it all fit behind the dash?

There are quite a few threads with this info, but they're kinda spread out. He asked quite a few in the OP so maybe there weren't replies because a lot of those could be figured out via search. I just did a HU swap a couple weeks ago, so I can try to help out if you get stuck on anything.

 

I appreciate that. I've been trolling the forums for some time. I'm doing a full system swap, taking out all the JBL and putting in a new amp, head unit, sub, speakers, etc. Just trying to find a writeup or any info I can so that I don't have to take the head unit back out again to fix things. I think my biggest question is about the GPS and XM antennas, and if the maestro units will use the OEM antennas or if I have to find a spot for them, as well as if it uses the OEM microphone or if I have to find a spot for one as well.

That as well as do the harnesses cover everything between the head unit and amp, or do I need to run wires from the head unit down to the new amp. I'm sure I can figure it out, but I'd like to only have my truck ripped apart for one day if possible. I've never done a full install without having seen pictures of the inside of everything and a full writeup before. I may have to go wild west on this one and just go for it haha

 

Also, I've read a few places that kenwood radios can have issues with staying on after the truck is turned off, unless you cut a certain wire somewhere. I haven't seen a solution yet. Is that something you know?

 

I didn't find a way to use the OEM BT mic, I just ran the pioneer mic up to my visor

You need the SAT-TO2 harness for GPS antenna, but only if your truck already comes with Nav, otherwise use whatever comes with the HU

You need the USB-TO2 harness for USB port

The Maestro module can be tucked behind or under the new HU

Full audio replacement means you need to run new wires for everything, including from headunit to amp (RCA/remote), power from battery, and all new speaker wire

I've done several audio installs on my own over the years, and the Tundra JBL is the first one that I haven't felt the need to do a full replacement on with the tech12volts sub kit

 

Does the STO2 maintain both GPS and XM? I got an XM tuner as well, hopefully that all plugs in. I have the RR, the TO2, the STO2 and the UTO2

 

I don't know of any headunits with built in siriusxm, so you need the add on module from the headunit maker

 

This is correct, you'll need the STO2 adapter JUST for the antenna, and also need to add the aftermarket Sirius XM tuner. I think there's still a mail in rebate for it on Crutchfield.

Same with the mic. There's no adapter to retain the factory one, but I dropped the overhead assembly down, removed the factory mic and put the aftermarket one in its place. Sound quality didn't seem affected and it maintains the clean look.

 

I just did the same with a AVH-1440NEX I put in place of the stock HU on my recently acquired '09 DC. Ran the mic cable up around to the overhead panel and zip-tied it into position where the factory mic would normally be. Works great!
