I'm seeing a ton of conflicting information on the wiring of an Air On Board switch to a LED bar. Are 2019 Tundra headlights a negative switch or a positive switch? Is there a diode required? Air On Board doesn't seem to know the answers.

Following, as I need the answer also. Installed an RC "30 lightbar yesterday and want to replace the switch it comes with. I have an air on board switch and wasn't sure about the wiring. Mine is a 2018

Using the wiring harness that comes with the lightbar as it already has the relay installed.
The RC lightbar come with a three wire switch. Black, blue, and white wires.
The AOB switch has four. Red, Green, Blue, and Black. The below diagram is what comes with the AOB switchA6341A6F-E514-4B72-A1DC-D36DE44FA400.jpg 3EAEB4D1-0D22-4701-AF68-99BEDCBC4FC6.jpg 324145C2-A1B8-4D4C-8E67-4746BD3DE29F.jpg

I’m not sure why I can’t quite figure this out. Have read that thread a few times and it’s just not clicking.

It’s the same harness as in the other post. Did not come with a wiring diagram, since was prewired to the switch. You just connect wires to battery, mount relay, and run wiring inside the truck. I’ve hooked it up and it works just fine with the factory switch. I just want to use the AOB switch to match other factory ones. The black, blue, and white wires are the part of harness going from relay into cab to the exisitng switch.
I appreciate your help very much.

UPDATE- 3/4/19- I CAN CONFIRM THAT DIAGRAM 1 WORKS FOR 2019 TUNDRAS. I wired the red trigger wire into the under-hood fuse box using a Add-A-Circuit with 3 amp fuse in the HI Headlight fuse spot.

NewImprovedRon- looking at the AOB diagram in post #4, should we be using Diagram 1 or Diagram 2?

I'm really trying to be certain on this, as there have been reports of frying the ECU by hooking up the wrong switch wires to the illumination circuit. ( )

I have the RC 30" curved light bar and used the AOB switch.

The blue wire from the RC harness is the wire you want to connect to green wire on the AOB switch. I also grounded the black wire from the RC harness.

From the AOB switch, black goes to ground, red goes to the add a fuse on the drivers side fuse panel for power on ignition, and the blue wire is tapped from an adjoining lighted switch. Depending on where you install the switch, just find the closest switch that is backlit when the lights are turned on. The tricky part is finding the correct wire for the backlight.

@coastaldad did you ever get yours wired up? I just purchased the Air on Board switch and my wiring for my light bar is the exact same. Wondering what steps you used to get yours done.

Hey guys. New to the forum. 2012 tundra. Do you happen to have a picture of how you wired into the air on board switch. For whatever reason, this is just not working for me. Did you tap into the fuse block? Is the 1amp diode needed. Thanks!

No, the diode is not required. Follow the directions for DIAGRAM 1 on the AOB instructions. A pic of it as well as some general instruction can be found here: I didn't wire anything on the switch into the fuse block. The blue wire can be spliced into the dash light illumination circuit, but if it is not connected, the switch will work without it- it's only there to make the switch light up. I've used these AOB switches on a 2007, 2011 and 2019 Tundras and they have all been wired the same. There are two different AOB picture instructions on the net. The only difference between the two is the color of the wires from the switch going to pin 86 on relay and going to +12V (trigger, usually high beam if for a light bar). Don't know which switch diagram you have. Here's the other version that is different from the one linked above: [IMG]

They are a set of rough country flush mount leds that I'm using for auxiliary back up lights. The RC switch has a white (12+) , blue (illuminatiin) and a black ground. The AOB switch has a red (12+), green (to relay), blue (to dash lights) and black (ground).

So are you using an AOB switch or a RC switch? Now I'm confused.

See post #11 above. I cut off the RC switch and installed the AOB switch.

Ok. I think I know the problem. The guy at RC told me that the blue was for illumination only. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I'll get a fuse tap today and see what I can do with it. It's a low profile fuse correct? 3 amp?

Got it!!! Thanks danz75! White to red, blue to green and black to black. Now I just need to find which wire to tap into on the tow/haul button for a backlight when the headlights are on. Any suggestions on that one?

Since I only wanted the ability to turn the light on when the truck was on, I tied the red wire on the AOB switch to a fuse tap to an ACC source on the fuse panel. The black went to a common ground point. So ended up only using the blue wire on the RC harness to the green. The white and black are capped and coiled. I cannot recall what color wire lights up the switch so you'll have to use a positap to probe the wires.

I reused the entire RC harness. Even the connector for a cleaner look. I tapped into the green wire on the tow/haul switch for a back light.
